Good discussion about a significant topic! Our college minister at Hillcrest in Abilene spoke about his practice of fasting one day a week a few years ago. After that I took up the practice for a year then got off track. I'm back on it now using Monday as my fasting day. On that day my goal is to not eat for 24 hours and to pray for at least 3 of those hours. I especially liked Marcus' s view about fasting from social media not being quite the same. I do try to significantly decrease social media on my fasting days. Thanks for the discussion and your perspectives. Y'all seem to work well together! Keep it up!

I fasted for one long weekend back in the late 1980s, albeit I drank much water. However, the food-fasting was made notably easier for me due to having a friend to visit each of those three days at a large psychiatric hospital, and not having any food around to tempt me.

What if you have a life-threatening illness that requires you to get nutrition? I have to drink Ensure just to get any nutrition at all.
